2007 BC Hydro Power Smart Excellence Award

BC Hydro has honoured, for the second time, the Overwaitea Food Group (OFG) – Overwaitea Foods’ parent company – for its outstanding achievements in energy efficiency and innovation at the 15th Annual Power Smart Excellence Awards held May 9 at the Fairmount Waterfront in Vancouver.

OFG earned the honour by focusing on conservation, completing energy efficient upgrades at one-third of its 90 B.C. stores, with more to come. So far, these energy efficiencies equal the electricity needed to light over 6,175 homes every year. OFG has also implemented a sustainable building design for new stores. All of these efforts have helped OFG become B.C.’s energy efficiency leader in the grocery industry.

The award recognizes leaders in implementing Power Smart solutions in the design, construction and renovation of buildings; applying innovative energy-efficient process improvements; or providing leadership in environmentally responsible practices and community involvement.
